Making the Day Special!

I love special occasions and Valentine’s Day is one of those days for me.  It is  the one day that we pull out all the stops to show our love for that special someone.    *Of course, this should not be the only day to show your love.  This should be a daily happening.
Because of my love for holidays and other special dates I have been known to over-do; just ask any of my friends.  For this Valentine‘s Day ( I may or may not have gone a little over-board)
I made these Valentine decorated clay pots filled with home-made goodies.
I started out with a plain clay pot, some Valentine cookies cutters (sold at William Sonoma), and a Nestle’s dark chocolate candy recipe (recipe to follow or go to the Nestle’s website.  They have some wonderful recipes).
The finished product contained decorated heart cookies, hand-made dark chocolate peanut butter candies, hand-made card, and a hand-knitted hearts.

The photograph below reveals the finished product – ready to mail.

Recipe for: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Candies
(from Nestle Toll House website)

Ingredients:
     30  1-inch paper candy liners
     1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
     3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 (10 oz. pkg.) Nestle Toll House Dark Chocolate morsels
     1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
 Directions:
1. Place paper liners on a baking sheet.
2. Combine peanut butter, sugar and butter in small bowl until well blended.  If mixture is very soft, mix in an additional tablespoon of sugar.  Shape peanut butter mixture into 30 1/2 to 3/4 inch balls.
3. Melt morsels and shortening in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe bowl on medium-high (70%) power for 1 minute; stir.  Morsels may retain some of their shape.  If necessary, microwave at additional 10 to 15-second intervals, stirring just until melted.  Spoon 1 measuring teaspoon of melted morsels into each cup.  Place peanut butter filling onto top of melted morsels.  Top each with a 1/2 teaspoon of melted morsels.  Refrigerate for 20 minutes or until firm.  Store in covered container in refrigerator.

On this Valentine’s Day I would like to wish you a very
Special Day and leave you with
these lyrics:
“My wish, for you, is that life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you‘re out there getting where you’re getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things to,
this is my wish.”  ~  Rascal Flatts

Happy
Valentine’s
Day!
